Help Name and Design the AHA Assistant Brewer

The American Homebrewers Association has a new AI-powered tool: the AHA Assistant Brewer. Now we need your help giving it a name and look.

The AHA invites members to submit a name, mascot design, or both. Help us capture the spirit of homebrewing, the AHA community, and the creativity that makes this hobby so much fun.

Competition at a Glance

  • Who can enter: Current AHA members
  • Competition opens: Aug. 10, 2026
  • Entry deadline: Sept. 8, 2026
  • Member voting: Sept. 22, 2026
  • Winners announced: Oct. 12, 2026

Two Ways to Enter

Submit a name, a mascot design, or both. Name ideas and mascot designs will be evaluated separately.

If you submit both, the AHA may select your name, your design, both, or neither. The final name and mascot may come from two different entrants. In other words, the best name and the best design win, even if they did not arrive together.

This competition is your chance to help shape the AHA Assistant Brewer—and part of the future of the AHA.

What is the AHA Assistant Brewer?

The AHA Assistant Brewer is a new AI-powered tool designed to help homebrewers get fast, useful answers to brewing questions.

Members can use it to explore homebrewing topics, troubleshoot brewing questions, learn from AHA resources, and get support as they brew, ferment, package, and improve their beer, mead, and cider.

Think of it as a brewing helper in your pocket.

Competition Guidelines

Help us bring the AHA’s new AI assistant to life! We’re inviting members to design a fun, friendly mascot, and/or suggest names that embody the spirit of homebrewing, the AHA, and creativity.

Your proposed name should:

  • Be original
  • Be easy to say, spell, and remember
  • Feel friendly, helpful, and creative
  • Connect to homebrewing and the AHA community
  • Work across beer, mead, cider, and other fermentation topics
  • Avoid existing brands, products, organizations, characters, or trademarks
  • Avoid offensive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate language
  • Avoid the name or likeness of a real person without written permission

Please include a brief explanation of the idea behind your name.

The AHA may adjust a selected name for spelling, clarity, usability, or brand alignment.

Your design should:

  • Use a 1:1 canvas, with equal width and height
  • Be compact enough to work inside a square, circle, app icon, or website tile
  • Use AHA brand colors (see below)
  • Include no text
  • Be original artwork
  • Avoid copyrighted or trademarked elements, including clip art, brand logos, or characters
  • Feel friendly, approachable, and helpful
  • Feature a human, animal, object, or abstract character

File requirements:

  • PNG with a transparent background

The AHA may adjust a selected design for usability or brand alignment.

  • Competition opens: Aug. 10, 2026
  • Submission deadline: Sept. 8, 2026

Finalists and winners may be featured on AHA social media, HomebrewersAssociation.org, the AHA Forum, and in Zymurgy® magazine.

For a name entry:

  • Proposed name
  • Name and email address
  • Brief explanation of the name

For a mascot design entry:

  • PNG file
  • Name and email address
  • Brief description of the design

Entrants submitting both a name and a mascot design should provide all applicable materials.

  • By entering this competition, AHA member artists affirm submission does not infringe on any existing copyrights, trademarks, or intellectual property rights.
  • Entrants retain the copyright to their submitted designs until a winner is selected.
  • By submitting an entry, finalists grant the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to display their designs for the purpose of public voting, promotion of the competition, and related AHA communications.
  • Upon selection of the winning design, the winner agrees to transfer full ownership and copyright of the artwork to the AHA. This includes all rights to reproduce, modify, distribute, or display the design in any format or media, in perpetuity, without further compensation.
  • The AHA reserves the right to make minor edits or adaptations to the winning design for usability and brand alignment.
