Historic first election marks milestone for newly independent 501(c)(6) and (c)(3)
In March, American Homebrewers Association (AHA) members elected four new board members from a slate of 10 candidates, selected from an original pool of 28 nominees.
The AHA is beyond excited to welcome Jen Blair, Stephanie Butler, Jen Pereira, and Jeff Whelpley to the AHA Board of Directors. Each will serve a three-year term, joining continuing board members Shawna Cormier, Drew Beechum, and Gregory Roskopf.
The new board will be officially seated at the AHA’s 2026 annual meeting on June 20, 2026, in Asheville, NC, during Homebrew Con—AHA’s annual member gathering.
Thank you to all candidates who ran in this year’s election, and to the AHA members who cast their votes.
We also extend sincere gratitude to our departing AHA Board members, Sandy Cockerham and Gary Glass. As Founding Board members, their dedication to homebrewing and to representing members of the newly independent AHA has been instrumental in shaping our future.

Thank you, Sandy and Gary!
AHA Board Chair Shawna Cormier shared:
“The work started by the AHA Founding Board to bring the association to a new future has been impressive to say the least. With our new elected board members, we are positioned to help the AHA grow for generations. We look forward to bringing AHA’s vision of ‘a homebrewer in every neighborhood and a homebrew club in every community’ to life.”
