Ask Governor Walker to Sign SB 395

March 21, 2012

Thanks to the overwhelming support of Wisconsin’s beer community, Senate Bill 395, which lifts current restrictions that prohibit homebrew from being transported outside of the home where it was made, was passed by both the full Assembly and the full Senate on Thursday, March 15. The bill was amended in the Assembly to clarify that it does not supersede local authority to regulate alcohol, making the bill more consistent with the rest of the alcohol beverages code. A second amendment made the bill compatible with AB 290, a bill passed earlier in the session to allow homebrew shops to make beer and wine on their premises for demonstration and sampling purposes.

The next step is for Governor Scott Walker to sign the bill. You can help ensure that happens by contacting the Governor’s office and politely urging the Governor to sign SB 395.

Thank you for your support of Wisconsin homebrewers. This bill would not have been passed by the Wisconsin state legislature if it weren’t for the many contacts legislators had from people like you. We also wish to recognize the hard work put into this legislation by the individuals serving on the Wisconsin Home Brewers Alliance in getting the homebrew bill drafted, sponsored and passed.
