Dan Acheson of Winfield, IL, a member of the Urban Knaves of Grain, won a gold medal in Category 38: Pyment in the 2024 National Homebrew Competition Final Round. Acheson’s pyment (grape mead) earned gold out of 22 entries.

Acheson shares the following about A Witty Reference to Monty Python: “A pyment modeled after a late-harvest Gewürtztraminer. Floral and lychee fruit notes from Gewürtztraminer combine with floral and pineapple notes of lehua blossom honey.”
