Join 20-year winemaker Tim Tuttle in this session on home winemaking. Winemaking, like beer or food, is part science and part art. Tim leans toward the latter, basing his decisions on sensory analysis but still using the basic science and chemical analysis as necessary.
Learning Objectives
- Listen to an overview of the winemaking process
- Discuss the challenges of making wine at home
- Explore the differences between making reds vs. whites
- Learn about storage, testing, and more
About the Speaker
Tim Tuttle has been a home winemaker for more than 20 years, but his passion for it goes back even further; as a kid he watched his Sicilian grandfather make wine in his basement. This passion for making wine has led to numerous awards (several double gold, gold, and silver medals) and the elusive California State Golden Bear award for the Best Red Wine in California in 2016.
