Inaugural award honors businesses that give back to American Homebrewers Association Members

Denver, Colo. • Oct. 10, 2024 — The American Homebrewers Association® (AHA) recognized Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery as the top Member Deals during the 2024 National Homebrew Competition (NHC) awards ceremony at the Great American Beer Festival® in Denver.

Organized by the AHA, the national not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing the hobby of homebrewing, the National Homebrew Competition is the world’s largest amateur homebrew competition and recognizes the most outstanding homemade beer, mead, and cider. Held annually, the NHC ceremony also awards nine awards recognizing overall brewing excellence and service.

AHA members receive more than 1,700 exclusive discounts at brewpubs and taprooms, homebrew supply shops, beer education organizations, and more. The inaugural Member Deal of the Year award honors fan favorite Member Deals based on votes by AHA members.

As Delaware’s first brewpub, Dogfish Head is known for brewing beer with unique ingredients. AHA members receive 15% off their check with proof of membership at Dogfish Head locations in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.

Sierra Nevada offers AHA members one complimentary tasting tray with proof of membership. Brewery founder Ken Grossman began homebrewing in the 1970s, which inspired him to open a homebrew shop and later brew Sierra Nevada’s first Pale Ale in 1980. Sierra Nevada has locations in Mills River, N.C. and Chico, Calif.

“On behalf of American Homebrewers Association members who voted to recognize Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada as AHA’s 2024 top Member Deals I say congratulations and thank you,” said Julia Herz, AHA executive director. “These discounts are a shining example of how businesses reward and support homebrewers for being members of the AHA and recognize their vital contributors to beer and culture. Cheers to that.”
