It’s official. Hophead (definition: a beer enthusiast) and flight (definition: a selection of alcoholic drinks such as wines, beers, or whiskeys for tasting as a group) are now officially recognized by the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
The announcement comes along with 800+ other new words and meanings added to its online database. “The addition of new words to a dictionary is a step in the continuous process of recording our ever-expanding language,” Merriam-Webster explains in an article announcing the new additions.
Expect to see “hophead” on a Scrabble board near you!
