As the largest homebrew supply shop in Indiana, Great Fermentations was nominated by their customers and then evaluated by the American Homebrewers Association Governing Committee on the merits of community support, education, customer service and engagement, promotion of homebrewing, and responsible business practices.
150 medals in 50 categories were awarded for the most outstanding homemade beer, mead, and cider. Nine awards recognizing outstanding contributions to homebrewing were also presented.

Christian Chandler of Chandler, AZ, a member of the Arizona Society of Homebrewers club, won a gold medal in Category 15: American Porter & Stout in the 2023 National Homebrew Competition Final Round in San Diego. Chandler's American Porter earned gold out of 136 entries.
