I am a rich man......
« on: December 05, 2010, 05:37:51 pm »
Today was brew day..... My bud Dave and his wife came over at 1, while the girls hung out inside, we got brewing in the barn. Wood stove going (30º outside but inside 60º from the stove plus the brew burners was plenty) XM channel 56 on the stereo, steaming up the windows flinging our malts and hops..... Two other friends stopped over to "observe".... all got to have a nice mug of Wooden Shoe APA out of the keggerator.... After the brew was done I served the Belgian beer soup witch chorizo and home made bread.....

There are people with more money than I have, but today I got to share my music, building, brewing and cooking with good friends, and I was a richer man for it.

I will now go to sleep with a smile on my face.

Indeed!  Sharing and caring shouldn't just happen at Christmas time and birthdays.  Well done!

I completely agree!  I always enjoy having a friend brew with me.  It is also enjoyable to share some homebrew with friends and family.   It sounds like you had a terrific day.  :)

This is the part i love about home brewing.  Getting friends/family together enjoying a brewing cycle and making memories.  Keep up the good work.

Man, that sounds like a blast. I did something similar Saturday night, after mass, the wife and I took our nephew to some friends' house and met up with a bunch of other people to play and sing Christmas carols. That was a lot of fun (although the teenagers in the house were debbie downers until they decided to go upstairs to watch a DVD... in an unheated garage addition... when it was -3 c outside. Here's hoping we raise our kids better).

AFAIAC, the best part of homebrewing isn't the beer...it's the people you share the beer with!

+1

Consider: if you had a rare/special bottle of beer, would you enjoy it more if you tried it by yourself, or if you shared it with someone else who would understand and appreciate it as much as you?

I sure wish I had a brewing partner. My friends have no problem putting away the beer, but start talking brewing and eyes glaze over...

At least their eyes don't glaze over when you talk about why the homebrew in your kegs is better than the 1664 or Leffe they're quaffing.

This our experience also.  Some of our best friends were first met in our homebrewing club.

See you in San Diego!

Agreed with this statement. Me and my father do every brew day together.

My dad passed away in 1988.  7 months before my youngest was born (he's 22 now) and 18 1/2 years before I started brewing.  He would have gotten such a kick out of this!
