Ok, I'm going to put my $.02 for the crystal and color malts.  Use whatever base malt you want.  MO is good.

5. lb Crystal 120
I'm assuming this is a typo? :)

Oops, that's .5 lb Crystal 120
Scaling down from 10 gal recipe.

I'd be up for brewing a recipe this weekend if there was one in work. I admit I cried when I read this post. but I am also grateful Scarlet has such a loving family.

thanks to paul (blazt), i've got a very nice recipe (with all the other input as well that he used).  i may play with the hops a bit, but i really like what he's put together!  i will post it tonight.

update on my girl....  she is still eating and drinking water and more importantly, going to the bathroom.  i did give her a heartworm pill as it's that time and she threw it up in the night, but just the little medicine.

we are holding out that we have a bit more time....  we've been taking this one case of food at the time.  we feel lucky to still have her here, barking and wagging her tail.

thanks for all the kind responses!

At least she's exhibiting  good signs by barking and wagging her tail.

right right.   i know she's not "getting better", but she (at least on the surface) doesn't seem to have gotten worse.

i forgot to mention in the first post that on the card that was attached to the dog food with the feeding instructions, it has a place to rate "body condition" from one to five and she got a one.  :(    but like i said, no worse that i can see.

he also mentioned a mass in her stomach, but we didn't even really go there because he said the kidneys would get her first....  kind of a complicated situation i guess.   sometimes it sucks getting old.

Always SO tough. I sometimes hesitate going to my bird dog forum because of these type threads.

well, it is with deep sadness that i post this...  my baby girl stopped eating yesterday afternoon and has had nothing today but water.  i can tell that this weekend will be our last together.  i'll be telling her goodbye monday morning and then she will forever remain in my memory.  her loss will be felt deeply around our house.  nothing will be the same.

it's real sad to watch her lay there, but i know she is comfortable and she knows she is loved.

thanks to all and i'll keep this thread updated with my progress.

peace

So sorry for you and her.  I've been living pretty much pet free since I had to say goodbye to my 17 year old puppy a few years ago.
While in Vermont on vacation we stopped at this place:
http://www.dogmt.com/chapel.php
The Dog Chapel was built by an artist and dog lover.  The entire interior walls are filled with little sticky notes and photos that people have posted who have outlived their pets.  It was pretty moving.

Well, my girl is gone. Not much else to say.  Thanks to everyone who has supported me here.  I guess I'll be brewing the first version of this beer pretty soon.
