Samuel Adams glasses
« on: June 16, 2021, 04:05:21 pm »
Does anyone remember what year it was, that Sam Adams sent out two beer glasses to AHA members? I love those glasses, have used them for years. I was just noticing the paint was starting to go on one of them when I was washing them by hand.

It was at least more than 10 years ago, may have been twenty.

Long enough ago that I couldn't remember where I got them - but I still have them!  Considering how rough I am (and my friends are) on glassware, it is a surprise that they remain intact.

I think they came out about 11 or 12 years ago. But I could be wrong.

IIRC, it might have been in either Cincinnati in 2008 or Minneapolis in 2010.  I would be betting on Cincinnati since Jim Koch gave the keynote address that year   it definitely was not Oakland in 2009 since I didn't attend that conference.  I still have four of those glasses here that I rarely use since we usually drink our beers out of 12 ounce belgian tulip glasses.

I have one of the original glasses left.  I didn't get it at the conference, my wife ordered them as a gift.
I also have a few of the newer "crystal" (or something type) which are much lighter and more fragile.

I was moving a table and caught the leg of table all my glassware was on one day.  A lot of nice glassware died that day.   :'(

The originals were great, heavy, and really stood up well.
