My standard football season lager:

4 lbs Pilsner, 4 lbs 2 Row, 1 lb Munich light, 1 lb Goldswaen Hell, .25 acidulated malt, 1 oz Magnum FWH, 2 ozs Mittelfruh 10’, RO adjusted with 1 tsp CaCl, 1g Brewtan B, 90 minute mash and 30 min boil.  1 sachet of Novalager ferment under pressure at 10 psi 56F.

Now if only my football team could be this reliable!
What is the OG and IBU target for this beer? I would like to try it. Thanks!

I would have to guess based on the hops I have on hand, but probably mid to high 20’s for IBU’s and for my system with batch sparge as the process, around 1.050 OG

Thanks. I had guessed 1048 OG and 22 IBU. I like to try proven recipes and this one is different than I have done (the mix of Pils and 2-row pale is new to me for a Helles.)

I will be using Edelweiss and probably S-189 slurry.

You should be good to go.  The pils and 2 row mix came from a Wiehenstaphaner based (or so it was claimed) recipe but I subbed some Muinich in for some base malts.  It works pretty well.

Cheers.

lol no, i know you and many others are a big proponent of this over WLP530, but for some reason Wyeast has always had a very hard time getting into canada. my brewstore doesn't carry it.

here is the recipe, what do you think?

WLP530 repitch

67% weyermann pils
15% weymn vienna
7% candi D180
7% dextrose
2% crystal 120
1% simpsons chocolate

OG 1.062 - estimated FG 1.009

IBU ~28

Doing a "classic" West Coast IPA -- 62% 2-row, 33% pilsner, 3% crystal 40, 2% biscuit malt. Warrior as the bittering hops, Chinook and McKenzie in the whirlpool, Amarillo and McKenzie for dry hop. American West Coast Ale Yeast. Aiming for 1.064 s.g., 68 IBU. I'm using up the last of a sack of pilsner malt (hence the mix of 2-row and pilsner). McKenzie is a new one for me, but I got it in a HOPBOX recently, so figured I would give it a try in this recipe based on the hop description. I'm aiming for a pine/citrus/resin profile in the hops...

I bought a couple ounces of McKenzie Lupomax recently for the exact same reason - they sound like an amped up version of some classic old school IPA hops. I haven't brewed with them yet, but I'm curious to hear what you think.
