Mini-cask not flowing
« on: December 23, 2020, 03:38:26 pm »
Hi all,

I appreciate this isn’t directly relating to home brewing, apologies, but not sure where else to seek advice on mini kegs/casks.

I bought a mini cask of beer (https://lacons.co.uk/product/st-nicks-mini-cask/).  I let it settle for a few days, turned the top vent and then pulled out the tap. When I then turn the tap, I get a quick spurt of beer (about half an inch in a pint glass), but it then stops to a small drip. If I come back ten minutes later, it does the same.

Never had this problem before - any ideas what J might be doing wrong?

Thank you,

Nick

Sounds like it might have hops plugging it up.
Have you disassembled it?

It’s quite possible the vent on top didn’t open properly.  Or, like santoch said, it may be plugged.  Is there a way you can introduce CO2 into the lower tap to blow back any residue?  Otherwise, I would contact the brewer.

To me it sounds like the vent is not open.  If you are not planning to use it a second time, you could drill a little hole in the plastic part of the vent.
