American Standard Bitter with Lemongrass
« on: August 12, 2024, 06:30:44 pm »
Haven’t brewed in several months.  Kind of lost a taste for beer for a bit.  But now I am back.  Just brewed my “American Bitter”.

8 lb floor malted Crisp #19 MO
0.25 lb Biscuit Malt
0.25 lb 135L crystal malt

0.6 oz HBC 342 hops for bittering
1 0z Citra in keg/cask
??Lemongrass in keg/cask

Still trying to figure out how much

Have not brewed with it for over 30 years

O.G 1.038
26 IBU est.

Any Suggestions on the lemongrass

Short answer: I've seen recommendations for 1oz/5gal.

Long answer: it can really depend on the quality and how much you are removing the less flavorful parts. I've bought lemongrass for cooking at grocery stores and specialty grocers with wildly different potency. The 1oz/5gal recommendation is a good starting point but you can always start on the lower side and add more. If you overdo it, you can't take it back.
